Time for another Epiphany !

Sometimes, you can miss very obvious lessons, whilst looking for an elixir to plug all leaks. I've noticed that at small stakes, players virtually never change gears. Their play is unbalanced, and that's why it's so important to keep accurate notes. For example, a player check raises three times the cbet with a flopped set. He does this every time, without exception, and therefore is very easy to read. A 'thinking' player would balance this tactic by occasionally leading in to the preflop raiser. I use Pokertracker (with PAHUD) to keep track of all the statistics; the HUD projects the stats on to the poker table. You can easily identify your opponent's style, and play accordingly. PT is particularly useful when multi-tabling, as you have limited time to make a decision.

I've been hammering away at the fulltilt fullring rockface with varying degrees of success. There were a couple of 5BI downswings, due to variance, and consequent monkeytilt, but I've managed to recover. I'll post a graph at the end of the month if it's not too embarrassing.

Here is how not to play a set:

Be lucky......

Fold J3. Even to a min raise. Dont even complete a small blind with J3!

Let the donkeys play J3 suited. Gut them with your sets and your nut flushes.

I agree 100% it's just I was getting 5/1 odds to call and catch a flop.
