WBCOOP - 2012
The World Blogger Championship of Online Poker on Pokerstars will run from 23rd February to 4th March 2012. There are a total of 31 events culminating in the Main Event with a prize pool of $5,000!
I really enjoy participating in the WBCOOP, because it provides great value. Bloggers come from all walks of life, not all of them play poker on a regular basis, so the fields are softer than in regular tournaments.
Pokerstars are awarding $5,000 to the Best Blogger of 2012. Now that is generous. What would you do with five grand? I would really like to buy the Tag Heuer Aquaracer Watch with the Pokerstars logo from the VIP store.
Unfortunately, you can’t buy items from the VIP store, they have to be earned, so I would use some of the $5k to increase my bankroll and play more poker to earn those FPPs. I am playing PLO 6 max cash games at the moment, so the extra bucks would give me the opportunity to play a little higher, and provide a cushion against all that variance.
A holiday abroad would also be in order. Having recently started to learn Italian it would be great to do a modern version of the ‘Grand Tour’, travelling the length and breadth of Italy, soaking up the language and culture. The itinerary would have to include Venice, Milan, Florence, San Marino, Rome, Naples, and maybe even Sicily. It would be nice to tie in one of the EPT events either in Campione (26th – 31st March) or San Marino (21st – 27th October), and take it down. :)
I have only ever played in one main event, which was at the Russian Championships in Moscow, in October 2005. It was a $1,000 USD buy-in and I got the opportunity to play with many well-known Russian Pros including Alexander Kravchenko, Kirill Gerasimov, Vitali Lunkin, and Konstantin Putchkov. My exit from the tournament was rather disappointing. I had KK and got outdrawn by 88 allin preflop. C'est la vie. Rhys ‘Rebo’ Jones, from Christchurch in New Zealand, went on to win the event.
I believe that you should share your good fortune with loved ones, so I would take my family on a day trip to the Races at Royal Ascot (June). We would dress up in our best clobber, and take a picnic fit for a Queen. Everyone would get a freeroll bet on their favourite nag using some ‘lucky money’. I can just see us now consuming punnets of strawberries, while washing them down with the finest French champagne, watching the horses being paraded in the Paddocks. You might also get to see the Queen and other members of the Royal family strolling around the grounds. One of the best days to go to Ascot is ‘Ladies’ Day (Gold Cup) when attention is paid to the ladies and their attire. On this day ladies take great care to be very fashionable, wearing very exotic head wear.
If there is any change left over, I would invest in some national lottery tickets, especially the Euro Millions. You have got to be in it to win it. Now what would I spent £5,000,000 on?
